As the weather got worse, we started packing things up so they wouldn't blow away, the rain was coming down sideways, the boats that were out on the lake had not come back and I couldn't see any of them. Logan and I were freezing so we decided as soon as we got everything put away that would blow away, we'd go into heber to grab some lunch and warm up. as we were driving, we passed rainbow bay and there were ambulances and cops all parked in the parking lot, this had me worried, as we looked out across the lake, lasers were belly up all over, and there were a few Catermarans that had flipped and washed ashore. we grabbed lunch and headed back as soon as we could. when we got back to where everyone had started off from, two boats had made it back because the wind had died down a bit, I looked up and saw my dad sailing in on his boat and a Nacra sailing in next to him. I was soo happy to see him, as soon as he got on shore, he was shivering and starting to cramp up so we warmed him up and got his side to the story, apparently he had turtled (gone belly up) in the water and road the storm out on the bottom of the boat. at one point, he said he could hear a whistle and couldn't see where it was coming from and then all of a sudden out of no where there popped up a head and the rescue boats went a plucked him out of the water, the worst injures sustained from all of this was a few stitches and some bad cases of hypothermia. Pocketbooks were hit pretty hard too, boats were broken up and battered pretty badly. One crew was unfortunate enough to have their mast break right in half. It was quite an interesting day!
