A Southern Utah Easter

This Spring Break, I dove down to Moab with Whitney Lucas and her family, it was a lot of fun but it wasn't quite the trip any of us expected it to be.
There was road construction everywhere! If there wasn't, we probably wouldn't be in Utah...

The drive was really pretty, but long. We got a late start and decided to go with out a break until we reached ray's.

Poopsie kept our laps warm and cozy and the air smelling of dog breath...

Famous Ray's Tavern, they have the best burgers and boysenberry shakes! We always stop there on the way to Powell or Moab.

The dogs like a break too.

These are our toys, Rick rolled the Rzr [In the bed of the truck] the next day and broke his jaw in two places and had to drive home that night to have surgery.

This was the view from what we origionally thought would be the condo we would be spending our break at, but it turns out we got frauded and had to go to a Travel agent and planner to see if there was anywhere else we could stay.

This is Evan, Jason's friend. We were streching our legs while waiting to see where we'd be sleeping.

We ended up getting a room at a hotel but it only had 2 beds and then they were kind enough to give us two roll aways. the room was crowded thats for sure, and Terri slept in the burban with the dogs, this was her clever way of providing sun cover and privacy.

The owner of this jeep labeled evey scrape on his car with the location of where he got it. I thought it was a cool idea.

Evan's parents were kind enough, when they heard the news that Whitney's parents were going home they decided they'd come down the next day and take us fourwheeling and stay in the condo with us so we could stay down there.

Jason decided it was time for a change and bleached his hair we were all a little worried that it'd turn out half bleached or orange.

Jason showing off his new hair color.

Evan got talked into dying his hair black, and I used what he had left over and started from the bottom of my head and worked up, so now I have half black half brown hair...it looks ok I guess haha hopefully it'll fade out kind of soon.

The last day was the only day of the whole break that it was sunny with out clouds and warm. We decided we'd get in some last minute fun and went fourwheeling on some small dunes, it was fun!

The drive home was fun, Whit drove her dad's truck while the boys rode with Evan's Parents, we listened to oldies on the radio station and a few episodes of the OC and just had fun talking and laughing.

This was an old shack that I thought looked cool.

Wind generated power! they're huge!

We hit some traffic on the way home which slowed our drive, but it was fun anyways. It wasn't the spring break any of us expected but it was still fun for everyone but Rick and Terri, Rick ended up getting his jaw wired shut for 2 weeks and has to wear braces and rubberbands for 4 weeks after that, and Terri ended up with massive bruises everywhere. It could've been a lot worse, they were both wearing their helmets which helped a lot. So do what your parents say and wear your helmets!

Happy brithday Van, We miss you!

Every year on April 7th my family tries to go skiing in memory of my uncle Van, I was the only one that could go this year, and my friend Jared came along with me.
It was a perfect day, warm and sunny, and great snow!

Goldminer's daughter has amazing grilled chicken sandwitches.

Me in my gear :)

I would love to live in this house over looking the base of Alta, they're the only one right there, but it would be hard to get to in the winter....
Happy Birthday Van, we miss and love you!

Grass hay run

A few weeks ago we had to make a grass hay run for our horses, my mom's friend Kim and her husband Buzz were amazing and brought their old flat bed truck to put the hay on. Where we had to go was all the way up in Willard, Utah. I know its really not THAT far...but the drive seemed really long. Once we got up there we had to wait at this store which was more like a junk yard or a pick and pull lot, this tank was out front and kept my dad and I entertained.

The inside was tiny, I can't imagine having up to 8 or 9 people in here at one time..I was getting claustrophobic with just me in there.

The only way out...

We got 30 bales on there.

It's an awesome truck, it was used for archeology research before the Vanderlinden's bought it.

All in all the day was fun, but it took a long time! We started driving to go get the hay at 11 AM and got home around 5 in the afternoon.....
