I got to go to San Francisco with my art history class, it was soo much fun, not only did a few of my good friends from school go, a friend I knew out side of class got to come too because his aunt was a chauffer and took him, his sister Antonia, and their cousin Seth. I mostly hung around with them, which was good because I got to skip out and miss a couple boring meetings and bypass traveling as a huge group with all of the students a few times too. We left Salt Lake around 7 in the morning so we could ahve a full day in San Fran once we got there, food was expensive and I didn't bring much money to use so I fasted the first day so I could have more later, I was starving haha. Anyway, When we got to the airport we got hopped on a huge tour bus to go sight see our first stop brings me to the pictures, I was soo psyched to have my new camera with me, even though I am still trying to figure settings out and how to use it.
I'd love to have a boat in a back bay like this, it was gorgeous!
Everything was soo green!
These are the doors to the Cathedral we stopped at,. it was funny because we all recognized them as one of our flashcards we had studied earlier in the year.
I love stained flass windows!
The vaulted ceilings made it look so much bigger than it really was.
This is the front of the Cathedral it was pretty massive.
The city center, the dome is embelished with real gold, our tour guide highly suggested not to go climb it and steal the gold, he claimed that they had a very good security system....no really?
There was a field trip that was there at the city center having lunch and playing on the playground, the kids were entertaining everyone by dancing , singing, and clapping, it was fun to watch.
That seagull found a mighty perch.
The view of San Fran.
Golden Gate Bridge of course!
My good friend Lindsey and her mom who were on the trip with us, she's such a fun cute girl!
The cable for the bridge, look at all the wires!

I can't imagine making that chain maile, the pattern would be hard to follow.
That is one mean dagger!
Carved jade, its soo pretty.
An inlaid box, there is a pistol that I loved too but I guess I didn't get it uploaded I'll have to do another post and put it in there.
Public transportation got a little squishy when we tried to hop on, its kind of funny how forty students can do that :P
The Legion of Honor, loved this museum the most, they had an awesome tiffany co. exhibit, cameras weren't allowed though.. :(
Who would want to eat out of this?
Man teapot.
Lady teapot, funny, she has 6 fingers.....they're the same pot!
Monet's water lillies, it was a gorgeous piece!
I love the mystery of this piece, who is this woman?
These guys were here everyday, riding their bikes doing tricks for veryone.
San Francisco can get pretty chilly sometimes, and Pat wanted a hat to keep her warm, Logan and I suggested this one, she ended up getting a more traditional ski hat, I can't imagine why.
Ghirardelli Square!

Taking the F stop to catch the Ferry to go to Alcatraz, Logan and I were the only ones who wanted to go, which was nice.
On the Ferry getting ready to go.
A watch tower
Everything on Alcatraz island was either rusted or covered in moss, and home to all kinds of birds.
An old cement staircase
The cells were tiny, this is one without the bed in it.
The Rec yard. Beautiful view wouldn't you say?
The rusty old door to go out to the rec yard.

the old lighthouse on the island.
An old house that the guards and their families used to live in.
"free"

I think I'll take the elevator instead.
Alcatraz wasn't olny a prison, it was actually a fort before there were every any prisoners on the island, this cannon is a reminder of that time.

Leaving Alcatraz.
A warning for those who want to visit alcatraz by a way other than the ferry.
A view of the Academy of Science, from a cool tower that you'll see in the next picture.

The Japanese tea gardens at Golden Gate Park.
Can you imagine running over this bridge?
No tea bags here.
The ferry market building
Another visit to Ghirardelli Square.
The Balclutha, we actually got to board it, and for free too, the rangers were short handed and no one wanted to do tickets that early.
The tugboat Hercules.
A fun shot I just thought I'd try.
Looking up at one of its towering masts.
The captain's quarters were quite luxurious.

An old steam ferry boat.
the guages and controls
Some of the fun cargo aboard.
Walking down the passenger area of it.
You can imagin the first thing I did in here was play with the controls, ever since seeing Titanic, I've always wanted to pull the "full ahead" lever haha.
What a great way to spend the last morning in San Fran.
Some pieces from the MOMA (Museum of Modern Arts)
Guardian Poodles?
Flowers or spilled paint?
This guy's art was pretty interesting. he made short movies by producing a lot of these drawings and changing them every so slightly every time and then scanning then and playing them almost as if there were a flipbook, creating the story line.
Kind of an eerie one...
I liked this one.
He created a mural out of the pages of a book, and on this page he included the artwork on the page to go along with his story, tying the whole thing together.
The heart of San Francisco, in Union Square
A quick stop in China town, a little piece of advice, pee before you walk the streets of china town, there are no public bathrooms to be found, and the store owners don't like it very much if you want to use their toilets without making a purchase, pretty sure my bladder almost exploded.
So one of the nights, Logan wanted to take me out to dinner so we decided to ride the cable cars and get off at one of the stops and find a nice resaurant to eat at, well these two drunken sisters suggested a little italian place on the corner of Broadway and Columbus. We thought, why not? so we get off and we're looking around and the only building on the corner of those two streets was the Concord, the first topless bar, not our idea of a nice restraunt haha, so we ended up walking a block or two to a nice little italian place and ate on their streetside patio, their homemade pesto ravioli was great! It was an adventure thats for sure!
San Francisco was a lot of fun, the only mishap we had was a group of girls from our school decided they would play a prank of everyone and light a smoke bomb off in the hall of our hotel at eleven o'clock at night, well it smoked alot more than they thought it would and it ended up setting off the fire alarm. The whole building was evacuated, everyone was pissed. The girls ended up being sent home. But other than that it was a pretty smooth trip considering there were 42 teenagers on it. haha
